Chapter 5
There are two ways when communicating through the internet. There is push technology and pull technology. Push technology is instant messaging, notifications, social networks, and so on. It sends the user the content who requests it. Then the newsfeed, podcasts, and mail list are all examples of pull technology. It pulls the content to the device when they want it. The pull technology is the one that creeps me up the most just because it felt like the app was listening to me. The notifications I would get are mostly from friends like messenger and iMessage and staff. Some would be class work, but that would majority it. It has helped me a ton when I needed something or needed a reminder of something. Using a messaging app to send or receive a text message was made in 1988 by Jarkko Karinen, He used it to talk to his employer. After that, programs were made to send and receive messages. One of the programs that was an instant messaging program was called ICQ. Nowadays people are using some of the new messaging apps like Facebook Messenger and iMessage. I have used Facebook Messenger to talk to my friends. I would talk to them about the group's plan or even say hi to them if I didn't have their phone number. IMessage was more of a personal thing when it came to that. That was more used for my employers, co-workers, teachers, and even peers. You can connect with people in various ways like through Facebook, advertising services, online businesses, blogs, etc.I have only used Facebook and some online businesses to get stuff.
